All right, I haven't trained for a while, so this'll be good to get everything started again...

-Battles are fought in turns, you post after a response.
-Fighting happens in "real time"; meaning you can, if you wish, go back in time a little to describe actions and things you do before any attack the opposition lands (within reasonability)
-Be as descriptive as you can. More information makes for better battles.
-Do not ever control your opponent's character (or pets) in any way.
-Characters are, typically, allowed two actions per post: One defensive action and one offensive action. Regardless of whether you were attacked or not, you may only attack once per post.
-You can only use 1 special/spell per turn (you can use multiple skills per turn, but only 1 special per turn). Specials that have an effect on your opponent count as your one offensive action.
-Try to be fair in both your attacks as well as your dodges. Getting hit every now and then is not the end of the world, and deepens your character. (And makes battles more interesting)
-A minimum of 2 paragraphs (though more are desirable!)
-No "unblockable" attacks. There's always something, somewhere that can happen.
-Be creative, use the world around you to your advantage!
-Use a spell checker, or a program that helps with punctuation. It can't hurt...and can generally help your posts become more readable.
-Have fun!!! Battles are supposed to be enjoyable. If you don't like it, something is wrong.

Grimmar was sitting at home, minding his own business, when the summons came. As usual, the method of summons was anything but orthodox. Life just never allowed anything normal to happen to the dwarf. At times, that was annoying, while at others it was a welcome relief.

On this particular occasion, there was a wind blowing outside and the door to the hall was flung wide open from the force of the gusting air. When he went over to the doorway, a ghostly spectre of a gnome was floating in the space between the doorposts and looked at him intently. Noticing the ghost, Grimmar decided not to close the door, partly from nerves and partly because he thought that it would be impolite. The floating humanoid figure looked at him and in a raspy voice said, "All right shorty, you've got five minutes to get ready - you're going to be training again." Despite wanting to look the ghost in the eye and ask him who exactly was the shorter one in this situation, he figured that it would be more worthwhile actually getting ready.

The fighter was a bit obsessive with the storage and care of his weapons and armor - a lot of that stemming from his time as a blacksmith - but he had always felt the need to be prepared. Either way, the dwarf was ready to go in four minutes and reported back to the ghost in the doorway. "About time shorty, was wondering if you'd actually come back!" As Grimmar was about to return fire to the smart aleck ghost, he found himself suddenly standing in the middle of the plains on a plateau with a full-on campsite ready for him, complete with fire, shelter and some food. There weren't too many trees around on the surrounding landscape, although the grass was much longer in the area surrounding the rise, which was only about three to four feet below him. It was the middle of the night with the moon high in the sky, not leaving much to cloud cover.

Oh yeah, you might be here for a while before he shows up. Bon appetit! And with that, the ghost disappeared.

Grimmar shrugged his shoulders and settled in around the fire. Training wasn't always the most glamorous of duties, but at least he wouldn't be going hungry.

Bit of an unorthodox start, I know - feel free to open any way you choose. Night fight? Wait until morning? Appear right in the middle of the camp? It's all your choice on how you get here...
