Consider, if you will, for a moment the top of the mountain. Though it is not a very large mountain, it is the only one in this area. And from the top which is covered with light, powdery snow, you have a vision rivaling most other places in DI. Around you stretches the plains, only broken far to the north where they change into forest. The lush green contrasts perfectly with the white of the snow, and the blue of the sky, making the world seem to be created by a master painter. Small white clouds dot the sky, not threatening with rain, but offering a little shade to weary travelers.

Now leave the mountain top behind, and instead travel far, far downward. Enter the realm of a dwarfen tavern. The smell seems enough to knock out a horse, especially judging by the horse which lies knocked out in a corner. Though it is quite likely that the horse instead came to drink some of the ale dwarfs brew. After all, it is considered one of the strongest drinks in the world. Dwarfs sit all around drinking said ale for as far as the eye can see. Which isn't very far, considering the thick smoke from pipes that older hold.

It was in this tavern that Musalis found herself. It had seemed as a good idea at the time. She had been standing in front on the mountain, considering her options. Go around the mountain, go over the mountain, or travel through the dwarfen caverns to the other side. Since she was pressed for time - someone was murdering followers of Ochre, and she had to stop that - she decided for the quickest route. It had worked fine for the first hour or so. The tunnel had been straight, and there wasn't really anyone to bother her. Then, of course, she had entered the tavern.

That was three days ago.

It was really amazing how mindboggeling big the dwarfen tavern was. Of course, Musalis knew that dwarfs were stereotyped to drink a lot. What she didn't know was that this in reality meant that they took an entire mountain, and basically turned it into one large tavern. There were several levels. Counting down from the top level, she had been informed that she was currently at level 372, the ground level. Though informed wasn't really the right word... she had over the course of these three days asked hundreds of dwarfs. They were all drunk to the bone, but by cross-referencing the answers, she managed to find one that seemed plausible. In a similar manner, she had been informed that the closest level not belonging to the tavern was level 503, where the mining shafts began. At that point there was supposedly only 'light' drinking going on. To sum up, she was stuck in the tavern. The best thing she could do was to continue on, and hope she soon got to see daylight again.

"Threee shoul' shwee do wiish she drunken shailoooor, shou' we shooo wissh sheee druun... dunk.. en shailorrrr!"

Ah yes, and then there was that. Somehow, Cindy had managed to get drunk. Again, it was mindboggeling, and Musalis had no clue as to the how. After all, Cindy was a book. How in Ochres name did a book get drunk? Maybe it was one of the dwarfs accidentally spilling beer, ale, and other alcoholic drinks on her. But then again, they had spilled on Musalis too, and Musalis was still sober. Maybe the fumes of the tavern, heavy with alcohol had affected the bible. Musalis didn't really care, the point was that is was really, really, really, really, really, really annoying. Even more than Cindy normally was.

The dwarfs, of course, didn't mind. They were all drunk, and cheered at Cindy's pathetic drunken attempts at song. It was enough to go mad.

It was time, he thought, that he would leave the endless dwarven mines and head out to the world far and beyond. After two years of digging tunnels, blowing up rocks and swimming in a sea of dirt, he was head-on decided that this life had more to offer him.

It was not that he disliked his current job. It was fun; making friends, drinking in dwarven taverns, and seeing things blow up and rock and dirt flying off all over the place as the under-earth shook with the force of the boom. It was his longing - his heart longed for something, something distant, something that he could not achieve by just spending the rest of his goblin years in the mines – it was a long and amazing adventure that would let him meet people and take him to places far greater than even in his wildest dreams.

‘The world is vast…’ he remembered a voice that once said the line to him ‘you must feel it to learn it.’

The day before departure his friends and co-workers prepared a farewell party. Going into one of those unnecessarily large dwarven taverns found near the mines, because dwarves, even for their size, often build stuff excessively large, they held an all-nighter (and even day-er) drunken fest. Even the horse, which would supposedly take him the next day, was drunk with booze and wasn’t even able to stand up the next day.

Of course when the next day came, or was it night, because in these tunnels, it was very hard to discern time, Spur woke up with a nagging hang-over and a short-term memory loss of what the hell happened during the party. He was face flat on the floor, drooling. He stood up, shook his head, and wiped the saliva off his lips. It took him a couple of minuets to regain his senses and to re-orient him to where he was. He looked around to find any clue or idea as to where and how he got there. His eyes blinked to adjust to the lighting of the room.

He remembered two things – first, that he had just woke up from a party that, ironically, he could not remember and second, that today, he would be heading out to journey to the outside world. The former, he tried to store at the back of his mind as he decided that he would later try to remember what happened during his journey out. The latter, he remembered, that he had bought a horse unto which he would ride in the outside world. The horse, in this matter, was nowhere to be seen. It must’ve been lost during the party.

‘Note to self -’ he spoke in his mind, ‘never bring a horse to a party unless you aren’t planning to leave the very next day.’

He started wandering around the same level of the tavern, surrounded by drunken dwarves that were no longer sober. What he noticed most however, was the blue figure that was at the center of the group – too tall and skinny, and has far too less hair to be a dwarf or a goblin. Oddly however, from his point of view, he seems to be singing some drunken song. ‘Probably some lonely traveler that got lost in the mines and drank too many ale that he could handle.’ (As by this time, he had assumed the figure was a man.)

Having no clue and no other choice as to where his horse was, and thinking that everyone was probably too drunk and too cheerful, he decided to do something stupid as he often did.

Stepping up into one of those high tables to gain stage, he took a deep breath and shouted –

"ANYONE SEEN A HORSE 'ROUND THIS HERE PARTS?"

Obliviously, he thought that that would have probably been enough to get these drunks’ attention.

"Ohhh, shhure. I've shheeen a horsssh!!", Cindy shouted in return. Musalis froze. She got the sudden but strong impression that this situation was very, very quickly heading towards an unpleasant ending. And there was nothing she could do to save it. Normally, she had a secret nudge to get Cindy to shut up. But she couldn't really use it now - Cindy was drunk. She couldn't be expected to act reasonably at all. So the only thing left for Musalis was to wait in horror while her bible insulted a stranger. But maybe she could soften the impact of the words a little...

"I'm sure Cindy doesn't really mean it, honored stranger. You see, she is just drun..."

"Sshhhut IP... eh, UP!!!", Cindy easily overpowered Musalis' voice, "Let shme tell you shomeshing, shhhh... shir! I've sheen your horrrse. Itsh shomewhere back shere where... sshomewhere. And itshsh out dlo... docl... cold! HAH! How.. mbig a ididiot are shouuu? Tasking a horssshH to shhishhh tavern? Shat's shilly! Shillly, I shhhell you! SSSSHHHHAMME! ON! YOU! Shame, I shhay, shhhame, sssssshame, shame, for leav... eavi... ing shhuch a good horrr...se alllll alllone in shhish Tavern. shshshhsAME!"

The best move, Musalis decided, was to sneak away before the one spoke - or shouted - to decided to repay the words with steel. Sneaking away wasn't going to be easy, with Cindy's voice still loud in the tavern, but if she moved fast enough it should be possible to get...

And just when Musalis thought things couldn't get any worse, the dwarfs started laughing. They probably mistook Cindy's drunken accusations for a joke, and with the help of Alcohol, that joke was seemingly incredibly funny. Shouting approvingly, they raised they tankards, and banged them together. Soon, a sort of chant got going.

"MORE! MORE! MORE! MORE! MORE! MORE!"

“What the-!”

Spur was not one to let an insult slip by, especially not from a stranger who knew nothing about him. Sure, he had heard from traveling dwarves and old geezers that in the outside world, his kind were considered slaves – a race of servitude, people that would take insults and attacks without retribution, spineless beings that would cower behind a master. But no, this goblin was not like that – he refused to be like that. He was given freedom and no one could take it away from him. An insult in his name is an insult to his freedom. If this outsider thought that all goblins are like that, then he made a fatal mistake by messing with this goblin!

"MORE! MORE! MORE! MORE! MORE! MORE!"

The chants of the drunken dwarves fueled his rage. He was then passed a glass full of beer from one of the audience and drank it all in one gulp – that should take care of the nagging hangover. He then jumped from his stage and walked, angrily, towards his would-be opponent. The people made way for him. Taking another glass from the crowd, he took one last drink for the sake of being slightly tipsy.

He grunted as he threw the wooden glass on the floor.

“I'd be damned to tolerate insults from a total stranger!”

From “MORE! MORE! MORE!” the chants changed to “BRAWL! BRAWL! BRAWL!”

If it was a fight this drunken bastard wants, then a fight he’ll get!

Musalis sighed as she realized that she wouldn't just get away. In front of her the dwarfs closed their ranks, creating a neat little arena of living bodies around herself and the stranger, which had now come close enough to attack. But Musalis was still hesitant to make the first move. A fight wasn't what she wanted. Besides, she wasn't sure if she could rely on Ochre in this case. After all, her link to the God was currently drunk. How would that work? If she prayed, would it sound drunk due to Cindy? Would the bible relay her own tipsiness together with the prayer, making Ochre drunk? It was a scary thought, and Musalis wasn't sure if she wanted to try it.

No, it was better to try to talk her way out of this before things got out of hand. Which probably wasn't going to be easy, considering the dwarfs all around shouting, and Cindy still ranting about "Shshshaaammme!". Musalis sighed. She had hoped to avoid too much attention... but she was probably past that stage now.

"SILEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENCE!"

At least the dwarfs did shut up for a moment, stunned. Musalis would have smiled, if she could have. Her voice wasn't limited by the how much breath her lungs could hold because she it was magical. Thus, she could hold a note basically as long as she liked, even while shouting.

"Pah. Ssshhow... off..", muttered Cindy, "I cou...uld do shatt, too!"

"Now listen here.", Musalis said, her voice down to a more reasonable level, "I don't want a fight. This is just a misunderstanding, because my stupid bible somehow got drunk. I'm sure she doesn't mean it.... well... were she sober, she wouldn't... ehh... I'd tell her to shut up, but she won't listen to me now."

Musalis realized her grand speech wasn't going the way she had hoped to. Maybe the alcohol all around had affected her somehow. Usually, she was better with words. She sighed again.

"Is there any possibility I could convince you just to ignore my annoying book and let me leave in peace?"

"SsssshhhAME on Shyoo TOO, Mushhalishsh!", Cindy took over, "And you, dwwwwarf... nome.... shwatever! Are you ssshhooo shicken to fight?! Comme oon! You shilly, shicken dwarf!"

Let’s get it on! He thought to himself as the stranger shouted insults towards the goblin. Then, in an unexpected, out of the blue manner, he/she screamed in an attempt to silence everyone. It worked, for a while, until she started blabbering.

His first thought was that this guy had some kind of split-personality disorder, shifting from an intoxicated persona to a level-headed, almost feminine voice (later would he know that this guy was actually a girl). She had almost lost him until she explained that the drunk one was actually her bible, though hard to understand since it was Spur’s first time meeting a talking bible – and what a bad first impression it left him.

"Hah! A bible? What are you? Some kind of pussy altar boy?" he replied, slightly unaware of his own insults towards her.

"Well you see here missy –" He scratched his chin as a small grin ran across the side of his face. "I’d ignore that drunken piece of crap of yours but well…"

He turned towards the audience, as if emphasizing to her their chants.

“Brawl! Brawl! Brawl!”

“And if you turn away now…” he said, the white of his teeth almost showing with his grin. “I don’t think they’d be happy about that… Pussy.” He said the last word almost as a loud hiss.

Some of the audience caught it and broke the chant shouting “Pussy! Pussy!” others declared “Coward!” while some just continued saying “Brawl! Brawl!” and “Fight! Fight!”. Either way, the drunken viewers were on his side and now throwing cheap insults at the blue stranger, eager to see some action.

He’d give them one last entertainment before he’d leave this place.

Musalis didn't even flinch at the insults. I was rather laughable than threatening, much like Cindy's insults.

"Your shmosher wassh a... a mosher of annidiot! YOur Fasher wash a bad pershon! Now fighet orr I'lll taunnnt you shome more!"

That was the price for being drunk - you were no longer able to say things that made much sense. Though the gnome - it was a gnome wasn't it? Too short for a dwarf, anyway - didn't seem that drunk. Musalis wouldn't have assumed him to be at all, except for two mayor factors: one, she had seen him drink just seconds ago, and two, he was in a dwarfen tavern. This place could even make a book drunk, so she didn't think any living person could resist.

FIGHT! FIGHT! BRAWL! PUSSY! FIGHT! FIGHT! COWARD!

But no matter, the backdrop of dwarfen shouting reminded her there wasn't a way out, so she would just have to fight. Either fight with the gnome, or fight her way through a bunch of dwarfs eager to see a brawl. And fighting one gnome was preferable to fighting many dwarfs who demanded the brawl. Musalis sighed once more. It seemed to become a habit here in the tavern.

"Fine.", she said, and drew her Battle Tuning Fork. It produced an immediate effect. First there were even louder cheers, then the crowd quieted down in anticipation of the start of the battle. Even Cindy stopped yelling. Musalis swung her weapon through the air a few times, mostly for dramatic effect. Then the stopped in pointing directly at the gnome standing in front of her, "I'll fight you, enough to give the dwarfs a good show, so they'll let me go. But may I at least ask you name before we indulge in mindless violence?"

Spur grinned as he stood himself up to poise. He shouted for a bottle of beer. From the audience, someone threw one and he caught it, seemingly at ease despite the fact that it almost slipped from his hand. He once again drank another gulp before speaking.

“Ahh… the pleasantries! Of course! Of course! How could I forget!” He slightly tilted his head forward, giving a short bow to the hooded person in front. “You can call me Spur – Spur Timbertoes.” He spoke his name with pride, giving the crowd a reason to cheer. Still, he can’t help but feel caution.

The stranger had released a weapon unlike any he had seen – and having met a lot of dwarves in these endless caverns, he had seen many. It was some sort of a long horse shoe – as what he would describe it – with a handle at the tip of the curve. How such weapon worked however, it was of a current mystery.

Another mystery, also, would be the stranger. Despite all the drama that was going on, Spur has yet to get a clear view of this person’s face. All he had was the general description of this (wo)man – a rather slim build and a voice that matched that to a female. However, he had assumed at first that this person was male, before he/she spoke. Now however, he had doubts.

“And YOU, twinkletwot, what might yer name be?” He was holding the bottle of beer in front of him with his left, shaking it, as if signaling that he was giving the floor to his would-be opponent. There was no need to hurry. The entertainment was now inevitable.

What a great show this would be, he thought.

"I'm SHINDY!", Cindy proclaimed, "Shhe greatesht book evar written! Shhe gem of any libarary shhat hash she honor off hafing me init! A mashterpieshe of littararary mashtery, shhe besht shing shat evv..."

Musalis was quite sure that most of the titles Cindy mentioned were made up there and then. At least, she had read some good books in her time, and Cindy was... well, come to think of it, Musalis had never actually read her bible. It came with it being able to talk. If she needed to know one of the prayers that were written in it, she would just ask. And then get told what the prayer was. No need to really read anything.

"I'm Musalis.", the priestess said, ignoring her bible rambling on, "Priestess of Ochre. Take a moment to prepare yourself."

Then she gave her opponent a moment to prepare himself, which was punctuated by Musalis first attack in this battle. It was a simple step forward, bringing her opponent into the range of the Battle Tuning Fork. At the same time, she swung her weapon, horizontally in a straight line. No fancy attacks just yet, just plain basics to test her opponent. Of course, with her weapon, it was kind-of fancy. After all, she only needed to make contact with her opponent to release the force in the weapon.

And should her opponent dodge, she would just continue her weapon on its trajectory, until it again was close to her, and in a good position to be used as defense against a counterattack.

"Whoooohhhhhoooooo!!!!! FIGHT!", Cindy shouted, which was quickly picked up by the dwarfs. The silence that had marked the start of the battle was over.

“Ah… so ye were a girl after all!” the goblin declared when she gave him the moment to prepare, “…and a priestess to boot!”

His grin did not disappear when she began to approach, weapon ready in hand. Such plain tactics were fair enough to be called, well, simple. No grandeur shows, no tricky plays, no opulent manipulation of abstract magic – a simple horizontal slash towards the goblin with her curiously odd weapon. Anticipating the attack, Spur simply jumped back attempting a dodge when she stopped to swing her arms for the attack.

At the same time, he retaliated.

He was not particularly of pure excellence when it came to accuracy. However, his ability to throw objects were higher, or more preferably, better than normal [Throwing Accuracy]. With the bottle of beer in hand, midway through his jump, he threw the brew towards the priestess aiming for her trunk with enough force that it would break should it hit a hard enough surface or object. The bottle was still half full, or half empty depending on how you look at it, and it might soak her should it hit and break, aside from the probable cuts and bruise she might receive.

The jump was only short, quicker than one would normally anticipate. However, it gave them once again enough distance to keep him out of reach of that weapon of hers. He has yet to know a thing about it and it might prove dire should he be suddenly caught in surprise. In battles, tricks up the sleeves are always table turners.

Landing from his jump the goblin took his whip from his belt with his right hand.

“Well, ye better start praying missy, cuz things are ‘bout to get rough!”

He heard the crowd cheer once more.

As Musalis had guessed, her opponent wasn't completely untrained in the art of battle, and managed to avoid her initial attack. He also retaliated by... throwing a bottle at her. It was also confusing enough that Musalis didn't react in time. Why would he do that? Sure, this was a barfight, but it wasn't the normal type where everyone was completely drunk and fighting everyone else with anything currently at hand. (though Musalis suspected that situation might not be too far away. After all, the audience consisted of dwarfs. If racial stereotypes were correct, they would join the fight at the smallest offense) Instead, it was more of a duel. As far as Musalis could tell, they were both not really drunk. This fight was really more of a duel than a barfight, so she didn't see where throwing bottles belonged in it.

Distracted by her own thoughts, she only just managed to bring her weapon up in time to stop the bottle before it hit her; instead of turning sideways and letting the bottle pass her. The bottle hit the Battle Tuning Fork. Musalis just managed to say a little 'oh', as she realized what exactly that meant.

It was simple, really. If you shook a bottle of dwarfish ale, it would create a lot of foam, more than the bottle could hold. It would escape by blowing away the cork, and spill. That was of course assuming the bottle had no other means for the foam inside to escape. Means like, say, cracks in the bottle. Upon hitting the Battle Tuning Fork, the bottle had been cracked. It had also been subjected by the usual effect of the Battle Tuning Fork - vibration. Basically, the bottle was shaken a lot faster than any mortal being could manage. Due to this, a lot of pressure was built up in the matter of a second. It had to find a way to escape.

The bottle exploded.

"BOOOMMM!!!! BLOW SHTUFFF UPPP!!!", Musalis shouted enthusiastically, and the dwarfs quickly agreed, adding their shouts to the general confusion. She also got the feeling that her opponent was trying to say something, but it was lost in the commotion.

Musalis was showered by a mixture of dwarfen ale and glass splinters. Fortunately for her, the cracks on the bottle had originated from her weapon, so all the larger pieces of glass were sent the other way. It was a blessing that she wasn't alive. Getting all of the ridiculously small glass pieces out from flesh would have been a pain. This way, they only scratched her bones. It hurt, but was over once the blast had passed.

Once the initial burst of pain had subsided enough, Musalis looked for her opponent. He had probably been far enough away to only have gotten a few glass splinters; and only scratches at that. However, he now had a whip. An interesting weapon, Musalis had never seen anyone using something like that before. For safety, she took a few steps back, right up the the border of dwarfs around the fighting area. If things went wrong, she could use a dwarf as a shield. Normally, she didn't like involving innocents in battles. But the dwarfs could hardly be called innocent. Their so-called singing when they were drunk just had to be an affront. After enduring it for three days, Musalis didn't feel sorry for them at all.

Spur almost laughed when he saw the priestess try to block the bottle with her unusual weapon. A normally sharpened sword would’ve been sliced the beer bottle in half. A blunt metallic stick would’ve been smashed the bottle into bits of pieces. Though like the latter, the bottle did become scattered into bits of pieces, the way it came to ruin was that it, unexpectedly, exploded. The contact of the beer bottle with the stranger’s strange weapon had caused it to burst.

For the goblin at first, it did not make sense – though much of the things in this world indeed did not make sense to him – and a cold feeling ran down his spine, the same feeling he gets when his odd curiosity would strike him - the feeling that he needed to extract, needed to find out the ways in which a thing works, the answer to a suddenly mind-boggling question. He figured however that now was not the best time to ask the stranger, she would probably not answer him as it would be very disadvantageous on her part, and that he was too confident with himself that he did not feel a need to have such a useless advantage. He would have his chance later, hopefully. For now, he kept it on his mind that contact between a beer bottle and the weird-looking tool would cause an outburst. He just might be able to use this knowledge later. Besides, he could not deny that he enjoyed watching a nice explosion.

Despite his distance, a few bits of glasses still flew towards his direction. He did not expect the explosion and could only react in time to cover himself with his arms. A few cuts from the broken bits on his arms but nothing that would affect his performance otherwise. The pain was mild at best and tolerable. He was able to simply shrug it off.

Still maintaining that tingling sensation inside him, he went for the offensive. Taking a few steps forward, he distanced himself that he would be out of reach from his opponent’s weapon. From what he had seen, there is a possibility that if Musalis was able to hit him with her weapon, a limb might explode. Having the longer length, however, to his advantage, his whip would have no problem reaching the blue stranger (he has yet to get a good look at Musalis’ face).

With a raw swing, he lashed his whip towards his opponent, horizontally, aiming for her trunk, or more or less her general location. The attack was simple but the speed of a whip would be harder to avoid compared to the speed of a sword or club. Still, Spur has no idea what this person was capable of doing, no general grasp of her skill. If he wanted to find out, he would just have to see it - or feel it - for himself.

Musalis prepared herself for defense once Spur came closer. It was obvious she needed to close the distance again - in close quarters, she could attack him and his whip would be less effective. She just needed some cover in order to get close. And before that, she needed to block his attack. Avoiding a whip seemed harder.

On both accounts, her problems were probably easily solved by a dwarf. Musalis almost smiled when the pieces of the mental puzzle were falling into place. The only thing stopping the smile was the physical impossibility of a skeleton smiling. Spur started his attack, swinging his whip. Musalis immediately yanked the dwarf besides and slightly behind her out of the wall of dwarfs surrounding the fight. His disappearance went largely unnoticed, not really disturbing the still ongoing audio-background of dwarfen shouting.

"FIGHT! FIGHT! WOOHOOO! BRAWL! FIGHT! ... eh?, wha' ar yu- ... FIGHT! FIGHT! BOOOZE! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!"

Normally, a dwarfs wouldn't easily be moved by a little skeleton girl. But Musalis had very good help from the alcohol that said dwarf had ingested. It made it hard to for it to keep balance. So the dwarf stumbled out of the ranks, and straight into the path of whip, preventing the attack from reaching Musalis. Stumbling onwards a few steps, the dwarf yelling in drunken rage at the pain inflicted on it. It regained its balance, and turned to the nearest target - Musalis.

The priestess had followed the dwarf, and positioned herself that she was close to it, while it was between herself and Spur. Before he could attack her, Musalis clasped her hands together. [Concussion used]

"Have a nice flight.", she whispered, as an angry dwarf found itself flying towards Spur. As far as Musalis knew, he would not be expecting having a dwarf flung at himself. If that put him off for long enough, the dwarf would hit before he could dodge. If not... well, it was still an angry, drunken dwarf. And he had just hit said dwarf with his whip. Again Musalis was close to smiling.

Then she turned around, and for a moment studied the audience. They had just witnessed her blowing a dwarf through the air. Would they turn on her? But luckily, the dwarfs were still happy - and drunk. They probably got into barfights quite often, and seemed to regard fights as good entertainment; even more so if they were in it. That was, of course, if rumors about dwarfs were to be believed. And seeing the size of the tavern... Musalis was prone to believe that rumors about dwarfs were actually understatements.

Which made for a scary though. If something went wrong, the entire mob of dwarfs could turn into a raging barfight. Then how was she to get on? Well, she'd handle that problem when it came up. For now, Musalis needed to use the opening she had created with her dwarfen launch, and get close to her opponent. Quickly, the skeleton started to run towards Spur.

[Concussion used, 2x left]

Life is full of surprises, from the sudden news of a loved one’s death to the surprise in winning the lottery. Like so, inside a huge tavern full of drunken dwarves, Spur never really expected it when the seemingly slender blue stranger took a dwarf and sent it flying towards the young goblin. How she had done that was beyond his comprehension. Some sort of magic? For all he knew, this person was just a mere priestess. What they teach in the church nowadays must really be something considering the abilities these priests possess. But his knowledge on the class was pretty much lacking and had always believed that they were just pedophilic old men who use words to gain riches and followers.

However, from what he had witnessed, perhaps those stories he had heard were fakes. Perhaps this in front of him was a real priest. Though he did not believe in the true powers of gods – that they are not as powerful as what people want others to believe – their influence of power must still be something to be feared.

So, when the dwarf was catapulted towards him, all he could do was jump forward and reflexively crouch as low as he could, head down, and brace himself for impact. His size helped. The flying fellow only bounced on a part of his back – though it still hurt – and not completely flatten him.

Immediately, feeling the worst of the impact gone, he took two fire weeds and a glowing paradise rose and placed it on a vial [Flare Potion]. It happened fast and smooth, handling the vial with a few fingers while the hand still held the whip and the other preparing the ingredients.

It was then that he turned his head and saw Musalis run towards him. Instinctively, he moved backwards to give them distance and give him time to finish his potion. Of course, Musalis would be able to catch up to him in a second or two. Hopefully, he would be finish mixing his concoction by then.

The dwarf continued to roll and hit the wall of other dwarves behind the goblin. He will be pissed.

Musalis hadn't taken her opponents size into account. Spur managed to avoid the dwarf she had sent at him by crouching. Oh, well. It had been meant mostly at a means to stop him from attacking for long enough for her to catch up, and get into close combat. A whip wouldn't be as effective on close range, but her Battle Tuning Fork would be.

That was not to say that she was safe at close range. One of the things you learned in DI was that everyone seemed to have more than one trick up there sleeves. It was a simple matter of survival - you had a much, much higher chance of surviving if you could do more than swing a sword kind-of well. And the people who were still alive had already survived.

Speaking of surviving, the dwarf she had thrown had stood back up, behind Spur. He looked really angry, and started running towards Spur. Well, at least Musalis assumed that was his intention. Under the impact of alcohol, it was hard to tell. What happened was the dwarf taking about six steps, in different directions, and at the same time. It resulted in his falling over, in a surprisingly comical way. Surprising because it is really hard to find anything comical in a smelly, drunk dwarf.

So there was no help from that end. She was once more on her own - Cindy didn't really count. She could hardly do anything, and for now used up the 'hardly anything' by shouting hardly distinguishable words. Musalis wasn't really at a loss of what to do; she had a weapon in her hand, and her enemy now right in front of her. The only question was where to strike.

And then she saw the perfect place. Spur had been doing something with a vial in his hand. Musalis wasn't sure on the details, but knew that potions could have quite extreme effects, if made right. Which was an incentive to prevent the potion from being thrown at her. And what better way than to destroy said potion?

Musalis stabbed quickly, aiming at the vial in Spur's hand. It shouldn't take much to destroy a fragile vial, so the attack wasn't too powerful, and allowed Musalis to draw back her weapon again at once.
