((Sorry about the wait!))

It seemed to take forever for the Sylvaan to realize that there really was nothing to be so afraid of, that there was no fire, no harm, nothing but the little elf woman-- and that was hardly something to be so afraid of. So with an amount of force she didnt know she had, she managed to calm all her souls down, proving to them there was nothing to be afraid of. Nothing to fear.

The Gorilla began to slow down in its panic, its failing less uncoordinated as it stumbled a little to a stop, its body relaxing just a bit as its crimson eyes opened wide to take in the surroundings. Nope. No fire.

Her shoulder hurt so much more than before, the pain blazing into her chest making her breathing short and panted, her face burning embers from the former attack. But all of that was irrelevant to the fear that she had felt before. What the hell was that? A trick from this woman? Surely it had to have been. There was no other explanation for it. But what essence of her did she use to do such a thing? She replayed the last few moments before that blinding panic, the only thing coming to mind was how the woman had held that bladed bow, with an arrow knocked.... and it had been covered in blackness.

Magicks. She should have known. Were there no noble fighters any longer, that didnt have to use such foreign power to fight her with?

The gorillas gaze settled on the elf woman, seeing the blue blazing energy in the darkness of the night side, eyes narrowing a bit. More magic. Didnt look to be a launching spell though, but shaped as a blade of sorts. And now she was waving it back and forth? Did it do a trick?

The gorilla tensed up, anchoring itself easier into place, getting ready to charge at the woman, when something with some good force behind it thumped into her back, making her stumble forwards more, jostling her already hurt arm, knocking the wind from her a little more.

That's IT! Im done playing games with you little woman! she roared with her mind, as she started to move towards her. But something wasnt right. The gorilla soul was exhausted, damaged, and wished to recede, but no! She had to attack! She had to defeat the woman!

In mid step, just as the gorilla passed into the darkness of the night side, her form all but melted into the shadows, the thumping steps no longer heavy but silent, everything silent. The Sylvaan, now in her true form, melted with the shadows as her markings gave her natural right to within the wooded shade, moving fast towards her target, moving her direction to the trees more, to come out of those shadows in a flank position aiming for her back, her speed as she moved greatly increased so that all of this would take only a few breaths of time [Speed of the Wilds].

Kris in her left hand, as it normally was, her right arm held up against her chest so that she didnt jar her shoulder much more, she moved to have the blade pierce the elf in the back, just below the edges of her leather armoured chest piece, angled upwards to get to the softer, more dangerously important pieces of flesh and organ under he armour.

The Sylvaans face on the right side was marred with fire branded scarring, still angry red, her eyes no longer crimson but a bright hawk amber, and her expression was anything but friendly, with blood now steadily trickling from the gash of the arrowhead still in her right shoulder.

Tyzrk had the inner, adrenaline-rushing satisfaction of seeing the ray hit the animal directly. She almost wanted to yell in excitement, but couldn't find the breath or the time. It seemed to make it even more angry, but that blast was sure to disorientate it a bit. It stumbled in her direction, into the night. With the light of the Mana Katar giving her away, she tried to plan in her head a course of action of dealing with the brute. But as soon as its body passed the border, it seemed to have consumed the beast, almost dissolving into the night. With a strong effort of the eyes, she was able to see some figure dash off into the woods. ”Another form?! Geez! I’ve been fighting a single thing this entire time!” She noticed that the figure was hard to see in the night. Her on the other hand, was a perfect, slab of ham just sitting in the darkness with a holy spotlight and an aweing chorus. She moved back towards the border of day, resenting how hindered her movement was. If she were able to bring the fight out into the light, the battle was as good as hers. As it stood though, she would have much problems dealing with a changling now that she couldn’t see it in the dark.

As she moved closer towards the center, she gave a curious look to her right, deeper into the night’s forest to see if she could guess where the opponent was hiding. Much to her surprise, the illumination of her mana gave a very brief shine of metal a bit behind her, and she reacted by swinging her right hand behind her, having the blades meet. The light showed a weapon and the arm, and almost the face of the wielder. Tyzrk was sure that the person she saw was an elf. She had many things to say at the sight of the opponent’s true form. She wanted to yell at her, first, for attacking her without any warning or (to Tyzrk’s knowledge) basis. She wanted to yell at her for using animals and scaring the crap out of her into thinking that an ambush of animals had come for her in her time of peace. She wanted to find out just what the deal was with this person, but in the end could only muster out a grainy, stressed, and almost confused -

“YOU!”

- and exhaled heavily as she had swung her katar and body away from the immediate danger of the dagger in one smooth motion. She was pretty tired and beat, but she was sure that her opponent was too. As long as she didn’t get any more hard surprises from her attacker, she was sure to stay on top of this fight.

With the feral nature of her animals, she as almost grinning at the prospect of gutting the woman; that was at least until she spun around with that glowing blade on her hand. The blades ground against each other as the elf woman spun, moving Nuncia's blade out of harms way, while also spinning her body with the deflection. In the womans eyes were fury and confusion as she managed to loudly proclaim a single word that seemed to take up all her breath.

However, that defense had opened her up to the Sylvaan. Without thought, the shifter let her left hand roll with the deflection, using the womans momentum to have her mana blade slide off the kris, her arm pulling in much quicker than the elf seemed capable of, hand flipping her hold on the blade so that it was reversed. With the blade now held against her forearm in the reverse grip, and the woman wide open with the poisons still making her weak, Nuncia let herself grin.

A speedy step to the left to get inside of her right handed swing, a right step to invade her space-- neatly stepping to put her leg between the womans stance, her right foot angled so that it was behind the womans right foot-- the Sylvaan threw her injured shoulder into the womans chest, blade positioned to block the glowing blade should it decide to find purchase on her. With the quickness the Wilds gave her, and her body weight no doubt more so than the frail elf womans, she threw herself into the woman, hoping to trip or topple her, at which time the invader would come to realize just how unwelcome she was here. Even though the pain would be crippling if the blow connected, some things were just worth more to the shifter than a days worth of agony.

As a stepping stone to finding the Grove, Nuncia was fierce about defending the Shrines that dotted all over Darkness Incarnate, no matter your excuse, she would cut you down.

"Trespassers meet Death, elf!" the shifter snarled, her tone feral as it was laced with a growl. Her eyes flashed yellow orange in the blue light of the katar, showing just how fierce this fighter was. Baring teeth as animals do, her canines sharper and slightly longer than any other elf known, it was apparent that this Sylvaan was wild.

And out for blood.

Tyzrk felt the raw instincts of the Sylvaan truly shine as her blade not only blocked the katar, but also elusively slid through it like water falling down the rocks. The Sylvaan stepped way into her bubble with the intention of knocking her down. In the condition she was in, another knockdown on the enemy’s terms would more than likely be fatal. Her dagger arm intervened with the arc of her katar arm, thus leaving Tyzrk’s midline vulnerable to attack. Out of not being able to move her feet or her arms, she decided that her arms were more important. Quickly, Tyzrk temporarily withdrew the mana katar in her arm, thus dampening the glow emitted, and threw her arm back almost behind her, so that the Sylvaan’s arm just could not reach her. Then, by moving her torso backwards a bit, she slithered her glowing arm from below the gap between the two opponents’ chests.

At this point, the Sylvaan had her shoulder obscuring most of Tyzrk’s vision, bent on ramming into her. With the lift of her arm, Tyzrk focused the mana into a different, sneaky attack. Usually, an arm would only lessen the traumatic impact of a shoulder charge, but it would still deliver the purpose of the attack - making her fall down. With this charge of mana, however, one touch would cause most of the energy in her arm to, instead, knock the Sylvaan back, albeit without as much force. If Tyzrk could have punched her shoulder instead, she would almost definitely beat her in power. But given the tight situation she was in, and that whatever was infecting her body definitely made her feel too incapable of delivering a full-blown punch, this was all that Tyzrk could do. The shoulder would most likely meet the glowing fist, still dealing quite a bit of pressure on Tyzrk’s balance. She would scurry backwards to regain her posture, only to meet the foot that’s hiding under her vision, and fall down onto the dirt of the wondrous night side. The ground feeling heavier and harder with every fall, Tyzrk’s only consolation was the mental victory over not having been knocked down on the reckless Sylvaan’s accord.

Nuncia was still grinning within when her attack was being followed through-- that was, until a glowing tap from the elf made her stumble backwards a few steps. Tyzrk hit the ground nonetheless, tripped up by the Sylvaans foot. At least the victory in that would have been celebrated if the force-push of the elf hadnt landed on her injured shoulder, furthering the crippling pain. The Sylvaan gave a howl as her arm throbbed painfully, more blood draining from the wound as she held it with her other hand, the kris dropped on the ground. She had expected pain, but not that much, that was for sure.

Chest constricted with the throbbing, hed swimming from the pain, it was a wonder how she managed to decide to keep going. If it had just been her home, she would have left it at that, chosen to retreat to fight another day; the problem with that was that this wasnt just her home, but a link to the paradise that she planned on trying her hardest to save, regardless of the plague now ravaging it. It may have even been the sickness in her own body that lent to the madness of continuing, even though she knew the poisons in the womans body would be wearing off soon enough, bringing her back to full speed while Nuncia was still wounded.

She needed to change that.

It was only moments that she howled in pain, and it seemed that too soon for the poisoned elf, the Sylvaan was running for her, her form much faster than what should have been the normal, kris left behind on the ground of the night side-- in mid step, that lithe thin form shifted into a hulking mass of black and white fur, great paws of the panda intent on slamming down on the grounded elf. Even for a panda, who normally move so slow and lumbering, this one moved much faster matching Tyzrk's moderate speed, yet still slower than the increased speed of the Sylvaan. [Speed of the Wilds]

With the panda's normally dense nature, the pain wasnt crippling her so much as hurting very badly, making attacking a bit easier, yet still very painful. Even in this new form, the burns Tyzrk branded across the Sylvaans face were still transplanted to the pandas, marring its markings with angry red. The shoulder that had been bleeding before was still oozing along the panda's right flank, adding crimson the the black band of fur there as well.

-Ending the battle, with acceptance from ddr; could we get a mod here to give out rewards, etc, or set up a poll if need be?-

As the panda's paws decended, a brilliant flash came from the shrine that both combatants had all but forgotten about, its latent magic once again activated. The sensation of falling fast swept over the shifter as she was thrust into the magic, her sight dimmed by the blinding light of the first pulse. Within seconds, her vision cleared, as did the sensations in the pit of her stomach, to show her a canopy of trees in front of her --and the great sweeping plains behind her.

She had been transported out of the village, to the edge of a new wood, and her adversary nowhere in sight. Clutching her wounded shoulder, the blood seeping through her fingers, she entered the wood's protective embrace, seeking out refuge while she sorted out her muddled thoughts on what had happened.

Either the Gods of that village had protected the village from the violence that the two had brought on, or the elf had done it. Either way, if the elf had that sort of power, then the shifter was of no use against her; if it had been the design of the Gods to break the two of them up, then what was she to disagree with that? No matter the reasoning, she knew she was far from the shrine, more towards her home in fact than earlier, and while that was comforting, it was also troublesome. Especially if she chose to investigate the shrine for a second time.

But that would have to wait. Wounds demanded attention, and with the right herbs, she could treat them and lay her head to rest, as she knew this wood well enough to know of the safety and dangers held within its boughs and roots. She was in no danger here. Here she could rest. If only to heal for the next fight she would no doubt find herself in.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks ddr for a seriously action-packed first page and an amazing story to boot! Maybe one day your little elf could find out just who she was fighting, and what it all meant! But until then, happy trails!
And maybe get a rabies shot for next time? XD
