The floor and walls of the arena had been restored to their full glory, and then some. There seemed to be a subtle glow about the place as if everything had been polished to a very high sheen after being repaired. Some would say it was the glory of being in the finals. Others would say it was magic. A third group would tell the first two groups to just shut up and watch the fight. Either way, the bunting had been put out, banners and pennants were waving everywhere as the final four combatants were on their way into the arena. The noise in the crowd has risen to a fever pitch as the excited audience chanted this name or that as their heroes were about to be unleashed into the arena for the final time. After all, who wouldn't be excited about watching two fights at once?

Yes, two fights at once. King Cryden was convinced that no one would come to watch a fight over something as trivial as third place after the first place bout had finished. He was also convinced that if he put the third place bout ahead of the first place one that people would be convinced that they had been cheated out of their hard-earned gold. So, with the help of the black mage, the king had a wall erected down the middle of the arena, effectively cutting it in half.

It was a rather unusual wall, though. It was about two feet thick and about twelve feet high, effectively joining the top of the wall with the top of the fighting pit and was made out of an extremely hard, translucent crystal. On either side of the wall, facing inward to where the duels would be occurring, were larger-than-life relief carvings of each of the eight contestants that had not made it this far into the tournament. It hummed with energy as a purple haze seemed to linger just on the surface. The feeling that the wall gave off as you approached it made you realize that actually touching the wall would be a rather bad idea and that prolonged contact with it could be extremely harmful. The gates were still the only access points to the arena floor and remained untouched by the wall. Two combatants, one for each side of the arena would enter their respective sides simultaneously under close watch of guards to make sure that they entered on the correct side.

The weather was sunny, as the people strained against one another in the sweltering desert heat. No rain today, nor even a cloud in the sky - a definitive contrast to the poor weather that had plagued the previous round. Even though this was the third place match, the combatants would give it their all to finish things out right for the glory that would undoubtedly follow.

The final showdowns were about to begin.

Stolatos let out a soft sigh as he inspected his crossbow, searching it for any imperfections. He had gotten it repaired of course, and now had to test it out and see if he had gotten his money's worth. After a careful inspection, he aimed across his meager room, taking aim at a spider on the far wall and pulled the trigger. With a loud 'click' the bolt slid free and quickly buried itself in the wall - a few inches to the side of the spider. He frowned, for of course that meant he would have to go back to the blacksmith and get them to do a better job later... or perhaps find someone else who could do so. His hand flew to the hilt of his sabre, crossbow dropped on the bed as there was a sudden knock on the door, but he then relaxed as he heard the words spoken.

"It's time for your match, cat."

Of course the messenger hadn't bothered to learn his name, or perhaps just wanted to get that extra dig in on him. Not many seemed to like his kind, rather keeping to other humans. Picking up the spent crossbow and a few bolts, he quickly gathered the rest of his gear and moved to the door, then out it and followed the messenger back to the arena. It was a short trek, but still he had time to feel the general buzz in the air. This tournament had surely drawn quite the crowd. He smiled at the few that acknowledged him, even waved at the fewer still that seemed excited to see him. With a soft chuckle he moved at last into the arena grounds.

There wasn't much of a waiting time thankfully, and it wasn't long after that he was at the entrance to the arena - which had changed drastically since the last time he was here. It was no longer raining, which was good, and indeed there was not even a trace of wetness on the ground. That was enough to bring a smile to his face, and it was with that smile that he walked out onto the arena ground. His eyes were quickly drawn to the strange wall and the statues next to it, as he found that he recognized a few of those statues. His eyebrows raised as he studied the wall for a few moments, even reached a hand out and nearly touched it before deciding better of it. He instead turned and walked more into the arena, eyes moving to find his opponent. After about five feet he would stop and crouch, taking a handful of sand and rubbing it in his hands. With a smile, he would then stand again.

His eyes would lock upon his opponent, who had entered at the same time as him and the two from the other battle as well, hand moving to the hilt of his sabre. He did not draw it though, instead deciding to simply study his opponent and try and decipher what it was he did. He had not bothered to watch any of the others' matches, so the man was a complete stranger to him. And well, all he could really tell about the man right now was one thing... human. Well, that told him about nothing. Humans could do anything, really. He left out a soft chuckle, shaking his head slightly and readying a seal in his hand... which he soon found had no power in it. He frowned and looked down at it, then over at the new wall. Could it be what was blocking his power? He might jave to find a way to destroy it if it was, for it was blocking his path to inner harmony that he only had because of his magical communion with himself. And that was annoying.

Reaching urther within himself, or rather into the metal shard in his chest, he was delighted to find that he could still talk to it, and knew that Ch'Taith would still answer his call, so at least he had that. He could only hope that the human he was facing was similarily obstructed by the wall or whatever it was, or this fight probably wouldn't end very well for him. He wouldn't back down of course, but that would end poorly if the man turned out to be a mage or something and decided to throw a few fireballs at his face, or a warlock who wanted to channel the sun into a beam of pure light and melt him with it.

"Stupid fairies..."

He mumbled out loud, giving out a soft growl as he started to walk towards his opponent.

The sun was shining high above the arena on this day, ironic that he would have preferred the rain to match his current mood. For the life of him he had no clue why he was even still here. He had failed in his mission and Kate Darksmith was no facing his former opponent Kronk, he only hoped the orc could finished the job for him, and not just end up a pin cushion for bolts.

As the doors opened and he stepped through the way a strange event would occur that he could not have foreseen. Some unseen force was at work, limiting the powers of the combatants. Before walking into the arena he could see the spirits standing with him, waiting to help him however they could, but after stepping though the suddenly vanished; locked to their ghost forms.

A more noticeable event for others though, would be the sudden withdraw of power maintaining his left arm. From the sleeve of his robe the mass of bones simply fell off and landed on the floor. His eyes grew wide and fearful as he gazed upon what was once his arm. ‘No spirits, literally disarmed, and I doubt my eye maintains power.’

He could see his former ‘clan mate’ Stolatos across the field. Though the time he and Randal worked together was quite short lived, Kilthar were few and far between and weapons dangling around his waist were more than enough to set him apart for the others.

Looking around furthers he could see the changes done to the arena, the tinted glass like wall in the middle of the arena was definitely hard to miss. Gazing through the wall he could see Kronk and Kate. Kronk was currently in a charge rushing toward Kate who was on the same side as Scott. He hoped that his power was not being transferred to Kate.

More changes were the statues that made a ring around the arena. Quite a few were his friends, at least as close to friends as he had made. The martial artist Darius, and his clan mates Musalis and Gardrim, he had failed them as well for now they would need to risk their lives to bring down the ministry. His eyes then fell upon Chris. He remembered hearing of Chris’s early elimination at the hands of Stolatos, irony would have Chris the closest statue to him, as if he was again standing off against the cat.

“If anything I will avenge your elimination and honor.” He says while placing his hand upon the wall below the statue.
