It was dusk when the cloaked figure made it to the outskirts of Glanath. His cloak was weatherbeaten and worn, even shredded in some places. He passed through the gate without incident - the city seemed not to be on alert at all. That was good, and brought a weak smile to the Kiltharr's lips. It was good to find a nice, calm place to spend the night. At least, it should have been a nice, calm place, but for the ignorance of humans - not all humans, but most of them seemed to hate his kind.

He didn't notice his tail poking out from his torn cloak, but as he passed by a lamp-fire used to light the main road at night, someone certainly did. With a shocked cry and pointed finger, he pointed the Kiltharr out to everyone around. Stolatos cringed as he came to a stop. Why was it always this way? A particularily brave human with broad shoulders walked up and shoved him into the middle of the street, then roared a challenge.

"You think you can just walk into -our- city, kitten? We'll show you what happens to your kind around here!"

The man leaned over and pulled a long knife from his boot, his other hand signalling his fellows forward as he straightened up. Stolatos counted nine or ten in the darkness, all with bared steel, and though none of them looked to be a real fighter their number made them a problem. Trojek appeared in his hand, but did not have the desired effect. It was getting too dark for the men to see where it had come from, so they just assumed he had drawn it from a sheath.

The Kiltharr sighed and pressed the tip of the blade into the ground, leaning his weight on it as he pushed himself back to his feet. He left the blade's tip in the dirt for now, hilt held in his left hand. His right arm hung at his side and he didn't even try to move it or summon his other blade. A closer look would reveal that it seemed to be entirely wrapped in bandages, and it simply hurt him too much to move.

He glanced around as the men moved to circle him, finally lifting his blade from the dirt and pointing it at the leader. He knew from experience with these types that talking would do him no good. The only way out of this was to kill them all. He wasn't sure he could with only one arm, though. He let out a sad sigh - he hadn't thought that this was how it would end, cut down by a regular band of racist humans. His eyes closed as the men started to draw closer, ready to cut him down.

Vehemence and prejudice spoke a hundred unsaid stereotypes, thoughts and feelings, the words carrying their way through the cooling night air. Through the glass her gaze lifted once, drifting over the scene for a moment before they fell back to the table she occupied alone. Pen finishing in its neat scrawl the words the outside world had interrupted, there was a silent calm about her form and the way she continued sitting there. Waiting. Listening. Watchful.

Without looking up again she could feel the tension within the tavern’s main room spike, the drunken mutterings of fools moving from the subject of just another boring night out to the current one outside. Its escalating fervor plucked her attention once more and moved the whole of it to the situation. It was immediately clear what was going on but it was with a curious silence she noted not a body within moved towards the door but to get a better look. Honor, it seemed, meant very little to these people; the popularity of this simple truth was starting to become something of an annoyance.

The scraping rumble of her chair pushing over the slatted floor turned heads, a nonchalant and apathetic gaze parting the cowards like water forced past a rock. Steps off of the property and towards the group eased her fingers to release the bag of her items to the ground as she took further note of the situation. The darkness was a deepening veil overcoming the town but it did not hide enough of the men’s faces for her to pass on by without incident. With a hand in bandages and a blade pointed at one man, the lack of favor on his side spurred her further into action.

The Rain Camellia came free from her side and rang dangerously in parting as smoothly the circle was opened for her entrance into the middle. The blunt side of her sheath came down against a skull and crumpled a once brave man into a puddle of limbs, legs stepping over him calmly but quickly to put her at the rear of the cloaked male. Tactically she split the men up, facing the opposite way so that neither was open to getting a bit of steel in the back. The katana’s point found itself precariously close to another’s chest, the fall of golden locks whispering a warning against her armor as she shook her head slightly.

“I wouldn’t do this if I were you.”

Stolatos opened his eyes as he felt the men advancing on him stop, then heard a 'thunk' sounding from behind him followed by someone crumpling to the gound. How odd. He wondered if it was just a ploy to get him looking in the wrong direction, but then he felt a presence move to stand behind him and even call out to warn the men surrounding him. He allowed a cautious glance behind him, but didn't learn anything more then he had from her voice. She was female, and had taken down a rather large fellow with a single strike - he was glad she was on his side. Why she was, exactly, he would probably have to learn later.

He returned his gaze to the leader of the group, a man who now proved rather spineless as instead of advancing himself he simply waved his hand forward and yelled at the rest of the crowd to 'Get them!'. Stolatos considered letting his sword go and just putting a shuriken into the man's throat, but decided against it. He had killed enough people already in his short time upon this land; that was not why he was here. Thankfully, the rest of the men didn't seem very eager to press the attack anymore either. Perhaps with just a bit more of a show of flash, they would lose all heart for it and take off? He considered reaching for a seal, but that would mean having Trojek dissapear. With his sword gone they would surely attack at once, the cowards, and then he wouldn't even be able to watch her back after she was nice enough to step in and help him - whoever she was.

"She's right, I mean... Just think of who will have to clean up your bodies in the morning? It just wouldn't be fun for them at all..."

He trailed off as he noticed that his words were having the opposite effect he intended. They only seemed to anger the gathered crowd insted of make them laugh and decide this was a bad idea and move on. He was in the middle of puzzling out where he had gone wrong with his joke when a few of the men got fed up and decided to attack. The smile dropped off his face as things quickly grew serious - luckily only about half of the men decided it was time to fight. He only had two coming for him and wasn't sure how many charged thw woman, but he could hear hurried footsteps so he imagined some had.

Thankfully these were not proffesional swordsman - he idly wondered if some of them had even held a sword before. Both men facing him chose an extremely straightforward overhand chop - not only that, but they had their swords raised even before they started charging forward. He let out a sigh as he simply sook a gliding step forward, the movement much too fast for the amatuers to counter. His blade came up, ringing off the inside of one's head before rebounding to strike the other, giving them both a light cut and making them halt their momentum, scramble back before falling to the ground. They weren't out of the fight, but he hoped they'd have the good sense to just stay down. He drew back, continueing to eye the leader while he hazarded a glance behind him to make sure the woman was alright.

The spared glance her way would find her more than alright.

Those who had dared to come forward out of their weakened line of defense soon found themselves with the same headache and pain that introduced them to the darkness death came by with. Merely struck unconscious, Stella let her gaze slip over the three she'd downed to make sure they had no intentions of waking. A pause in movement reassured her that they didn't. It'd been a mostly silent and quick fight, katana held close in case another made a soft groan that begged for another hit. There had been nothing beautiful about the fight at all; it was quick, painless and she'd served her brief purpose of protecting someone who was about to get bullied.

Something bothered her though, for the voice sounded familiar. It rang in her head, bouncing from memory to memory as she tried in vain to remember where she'd heard that voice before. A face refused to match with it in the darkness of the night. It was with this confusion she turned to peer back over her own shoulder, both trying to place the voice and make sure that he, too, was alright. Surprisingly both of his attackers were on the ground, disabled but alive.

The samurai gave an appreciative nod.

It had been easy, and the inn's lights reflected in her golden gaze as it slipped over to the crowded doorway. Some immediately began to think over their drunken plan of saving the ones on the ground, wandering back to their tables and drinks. With her trio having no plans on getting up, she looked back to the rest, a brow arching beneath the shadow of her bangs in silent invitation.

A flash of recognition crossed the Kiltharr's face as well. Something about a hot tub and another thing that made him cringe and want to protect his groin area. Still, she had helped him this time and that made things a lot more okay. He probably wouldn't try to kiss her this time. His eyes returned to the gathering around them both, seeing that they had all seemingly lost their will to fight. Even their drunk brains were registering that these two were far beyond them. Helping their friends up, they all beat hasty exits, and within a handful of seconds there was only Stolatos and the lady samurai standing there. He waited for a few more moments before letting Trojek dissipate into thin air again, another audible sigh let out. His left hand came to hold the bandaged right arm protectively as he turned fully towards the Samurai.

He let the silence stretch for a few moments before speaking; he had learned she was a quiet one by this point at least. Then he broke it, his eyes shifting towards the now closed door of the pub as he did. "Thank you. It seems we keep meeting in strange circumstances." His eyes returned to her, glinting in the low light as a cat's eyes usually did, but carrying a strange darkness to them as well. His back was also hunched, as if he were carrying some unseen burden, his bandaged hand likely only barely visible beneath the cloak he had on. "Don't worry, I won't try to kiss you this time." A slight smile tweaked at the corner of his mouth, but seemed unable to gain any permanence. Something was surely troubling him, but he didn't expect someone he had only met twice before to be the one he would unload this particular burden on.
