Vius OttumClass: Edge Walker[Warlock(Lightcaster) Master Class]Since his return to the world of the living, the magic energy flowing through Vius' body has slowly been changing him and how he interacts with his warlock powers. The silver medal he received in the tournament was the final component that acted as a catalyst, fully unlocking the dark powers Akmun imbued him with. By embracing that darkness inside of him, Vius is able to manipulate the other side of his own light-based warlock powers. Furthermore, he has become closer to a true undead, a creature of the night, able to see perfectly with only the light of the moon to guide him. His blood has slowed almost to a stop, granting him resistance to the effects of poison and disease. Magic sustains him now and his black blood glows softly, affected by the strange energy inside of him.Race:

The elf known as Vius keeps his past firmly where it belongs, behind him. He is relatively cheery for the most part and insatiably curious, especially when it comes to new forms of magic. He hates injustice and oppression of any type and is often rash when it comes to making decisions. Young(for an elf) he is just nearing his 50th birthday. Any being knowledgeable of the ways of Elves often remark on such a young Elf on his own, away from any Elder but other High Elves treat him harshly because of his straying from their cultural tradition. He stays covered by a robe and long sleeved garments underneath to avoid having to explain his numerous scars.
Vius was born in a slave camp, the bastard child of a powerful but evil Spellcaster and a local whore. His mother died shortly after he turned five and his recollection of her is very dim. He managed to escape the cruel slavers with a small group of other creatures, including a Ssar who recognized his potential as a Lightcaster. The escapees eventually found a small village which accepted them. The Outcast Village became a place for refugees and escaped slaves. Though Vius could feel the magic running through him, he could not control it. But the Outcast Village was his home and he learned to fight to defend it. Though he was not as strong as others, he was nimble and learned to use a sword rather well.
Vius eventually found a trainer to teach him the ways of the Light. An old Human warlock that took refuge in the Outcast Village taught the Elf to release the power of the Southern Cross. The warlock renamed the Elf "Vius Ottum" which, in an archaic language the old Warlock used meant "Living Light". The young Elf quickly learned how to heal himself and others and augment his own speed. Just as he began to learn the offensive power of a lightcaster, his master was killed in a raid. The Outcast Village was overrun and Vius was forced to flee with his incomplete training, a sword and the clothes on his back.
After dying and being shown the truth by a helpful spirit guide, Vius thought he knew who and what he truly was. In the KoD, more was revealed and now he can't be sure of anything. He has become greatly interested in attaining more power, specifically, the power of the Void, but after meeting Tiam, he remembered how nice it is to just have a good time once in a while.
[More story developments after each battle]
Vius was a member of the Shadow Council and the short-lived Order of Magicks. Currently, he is a member of The Brotherhood
--Eyes: were Golden, now Silver
--Hair: Black, spiky with a streak of white
--Special Markings: Scars run all down his back from a slavemaster's whip and there are several old bites and scratches on his arms and legs. A brand, a small circle with eight lines radiating from it is burnt into his wrist. His pointed ears were cut at a young age so that they appear like a humans but with a wider flatter edge. After an intense battle with a human swordsman, Vius bears a few more bodily scars and a vertical cut over his left eye. After dying and returning to life, he has three huge scars where Drakol's lances pierced him. Ice jewel embedded in back of hand glows faintly blue.
--Special Traits: Curiosity about magic and any type of magical item often to the exclusion of anything else, Very stubborn and quick-tempered for an elf. Due to his young age and the fact he was not really raised by other elves, he has a hard time controlling his quickened mind. He tends to go off on tangents and has a hard time slowing down his thoughts enough so that he can translate them into spoken word. Since returning from the dead, he is more soft spoken and cynical.
--Dress: He wears a black hooded robe and heavy black quilted armor over a tight gray long sleeved shirt and loose fitting gray pants He also wears black fingerless gloves and black leather boots. He no longer carries a sword but still hides his throwing knives on his person.Spell Descriptions:Bright Ray
: The warlock is given a small bit of the southern cross and lets loose a small beam of light from the palm of their hand. This beam stings on contact with bear skin and can be used to annoy the opponent, but it does little else. [Light, Weak/Instant] 4x per battleSunspark
: The warlock brings forward the power of the southern cross and, upon touching the opponent, unleashes a small burst of sunlight from their hands. This shoves the target back slightly and leaves a burn mark. [Light, Weak/Instant] 3x per battleBreathe In
: The warlock focuses a bit of energy from the southern cross and converts it into personal energy. This returns some stamina to the target and the caster can target anyone. [Light, Weak/Slow] 2x per battleHoly Aura
: The warlock summons the southern cross to envelope around themselves. This aura protects them slightly from physical attacks. The wearer glows partially during this effect and it lasts 4 posts. [Light, Weak/Slow] 1x per battleBrightsteel Lash
: A long(1.5 m), thin fiber of pure brightsteel appears in Vius' hand and allows him to use it once, either as a whip or a quick makeshift rope that could possibly trip or restrict a limb but can be easily broken. Also, seconds after it strikes, it fades away, allowing only momentary distraction for an opponent(Brightsteel, weak, fast) 4x(Substitution only)Brightsteel Cable
: This spell allows Vius to conjure a thick brightsteel cord of 3 m with a pointed end. On the first post cast, this spell appears to rip itself directly from Vius' palm. Then, it launches forth in a slow extension, although Vius can simply hold onto it instead of shooting it out. It grows to the predetermined length, allowing him to use it as a tool for climbing or snaring opponents. Also, the cable lasts two posts, so it can be used as a whip or a means to bind someone for a short time. Vius must know Brightsteel Lash before he can learn this spell. (Brightsteel, medium, fast) 2xWings of Light
: The warlock takes a portion of the southern cross and implants it within his body. A dimly glowing pair of wings sprout from the caster's back and they can move and react moderately faster than normal... however, moving as such speeds drains more energy. Despite what it may seem, this does not give them the ability to fly. It lasts for 3 posts. [Light, Medium/Slow] 2x per battleDaybreak
: The warlock uses his ties with the southern cross to gather a large and unstable ball of light-energy in their hands. They then proceed to throw the ball of energy with a fair amount of force towards an opponent. While it causes only minor physical damage, the 10 foot blast-zone is where this spell really counts. Anyone (including the caster) within the 'explosion' radius is heavily disoriented for 2 posts. It takes an entire post to gather the needed energy for this spell, however. [Light, Medium/Slow/warlock] 2x per battleBrightsteel Lances
: Vius has honed his skills and worked to replicate the spell that killed him. However, Drakol worked with crystallized mana and Vius uses Brightsteel, which is harder to form. Thus, he materializes four silvery, short, thin javelins of Brightsteel and fires them at his opponent. Though they lack the mass of Drakol's Crystal Lances, the javelins move fast, giving them force when they hit which allows them to penetrate armor fairly well. Another drawback of the Brightsteel being harder to form is that it only allows Vius to create needle tipped or blunt-ended javelins and all four must be shaped the same. [Custom, Medium/Fast] 2x per battle.Brightsteel
: Calling upon the power of the southern cross, the warlock creates a brightsteel sword. This sword resembles a spatha in length and usage, only differing in the fact that it has been enchanted by the power of light and weighs about half as much. It constantly glows with a dim light, offering an inextinguishable torch even in the bleakest and darkest situations. It lasts for the entire duration of the battle and acts as a regular sword otherwise (meaning the caster still requires a skill to use it effectively). [Light, Strong/Slow] 1x per battleBrightshards
:This spell requires a summoned Brightsteel sword. The sword is slashed or stabbed towards an area and the blade comes apart, splitting into five pieces that fly outwards along separate trajectories if slashed or forward one after the other if stabbed. When a segment hits something(be it object or person) it leaves a slash akin to a razor cut but disappears in a small flash(thus the attack would never cut through anything unless multiple pieces hit the same area) and reforms the Brightsteel blade. [Light, Weak/Instant/Custom] 2x per battleSkills Description: Substitution:
Often, spells have a prerequisite, which means that one must learn the most basic version before learning the more advanced. While this prevents the warlock from using certain magicks sometimes, this skill allows them to 'substitute' weaker spells in place of more powerful ones. By consuming 2 use of a lower-tier spell, the warlock is able to cast a more powerful version of it. This only works with 'tree' spells and, by doing so, they put a great amount of stress on their body. After invoking a substitution, they are unable to cast spells for 2 posts afterwards.Class skillManual Labor
: As a result of a long life of working for others, digging trenches and building houses, Vius is stronger than an average High Elf. WeakHasty Training
: While he never received the full training of a knight, Vius was trained by fugitive warriors and ex-mercenaries and has learned to use his natural grace and speed when he uses a sword. WeakRoad Less Traveled
:Vius often finds himself broke and with no other way to get from town to town but his own two feet. Because of his belief that many people might be looking for him, he chooses to avoid main roads and opts for paths filled with rugged terrain. The rough travels have made the elf more agile since he is always having to climb mountains, run through deserts and generally make his way however he can. It also increased his willpower. Though the high elf's body is naturally frail, his determined mind can overcome physical limitations and allow him to continue fighting beyond the point most higher born elves would have surrendered or prayed for death. Medium
Touching the Void
: The Void is the space between stars, where neither light nor shadow exists. After learning of the vast power available by borrowing strength from the Void, Vius has managed to take the first step in harnessing that power. The Southern Cross has been replaced by the Void and Vius' attacks now glow pale silver, rather than golden/yellow. Also, any attack that deals heat, burning or fire damage instead deals cold, chilling or ice damage. However, he has not yet learned to add the Void's power onto his attacks, so it does not change the strength of them. Weak
: A vampire's blood, a lich's bones, a zombie's skin, mummified organs and the essence of a specter. With those ingredients, Akmun brought Vius back from the dead, repairing his body, restoring his soul and solidifying the bonds of loyalty between the undead king and the elven warlock. He also left the elf with a tiny bit of the power that each of those undead creatures held. Vius can tap into these powers and use them to augment his spells, though he must research and perfect the usage of each power before he can use it in battle. Medium, catalystRacial Features
--Frail: High Elves are more frail than others. Their slim and lanky nature doesn't permit much in the ways of natural armor.
--Weakness: High Elves spend quite a number of hours studying each day. They're not as strong as other races.
--Magical Lifeblood: Their magical nature gives High Elves a slight resistance to incorporeal magic.
--Quickened Mind: A High Elves natural intelligence allows them to think faster and, thus, react more quickly.Milestones
