It is the middle of the afternoon. Birds chirp, hunters hunt, and prey are eaten. The sun is out with a mild overcast and the world is alive and well. For the forest and its inhabitants, life goes on as it almost always has. Clouds begin to build up as a storm slowly begins forming to assault the world below.

On the ground lies a large, deep crater caused a meteor long ago. Dirt and rubble has fallen in and slowly began the process of rebuilding the land. Gras can be found randomly throughout the crater fed by a single stream of water that seeps in from the east end dividing the crater into 2 halves.

Within the crater, remains of the meteor float around seemingly immune to the laws of gravity. These remnants slowly move around never leaving the crater, their course changeable by a simple push. There is no set size to the remains, some large enough to serve as a small platform while others are no bigger than a person's eye. Despite all attempts to cause otherwise, the remnants are always in perpetual motion.

---------------------------------

Having succeeded in their first trials the two combatants are torn from their previous battlegrounds and reappear in the crater. By the will of D.I. alone, the combatants were set to face each other.

A battle for glory, a battle for fame, a battle for riches! It was all or noth... oh wait... this isn't the final round yet... Very Happy

DDR posts first.

Tyzrk was about to shoot at Fudo when suddenly a light came and congratulated for them having the only fight that ended by a time limit. She wondered who would win, and in a few moments, they were teleported in a bright light. Minutes later, the light stopped, leaving Tyzrk and her companions standing there adjusting their eyes. They looked around to see a big crater with many meteorites simply floating around. It was an astounding sight. She took this as her winning, and she was in the next round. Silently cheering, the same light that announced the end of Tyzrk and Fudo's battle appeared and started talking to Tyzrk.

"Don't get too cocky," the light said, "you were just lucky that we had two open spots in round two unexpectedly."

"You mean to say that.. I woulda lost?!" The light simply nodded. (Somehow)

She felt light swearing, but instead she gave another silent cheer of her luckiness. First, I got some ticket number and got randomly chosen to go to the tournament! Sure, my first combatitor was a zombie, but this makes up for it! Next, I got to go to round two by luck! She stopped when she heard a noise. Curious, she looked around to see someone. "Is that.. Who I'm fighting?" The light disappeared, and Xhercfa ran to hide somewhere. Tyzrk drew her bladed bow, not taking a fighting stance but was amazed at the fact that she was not only back to full health, but her weapons were on her back once more! She held the bow in her left hand, having the arm lay down for now, not to look hostile.

Nicholas hadn't even started truly fighting yet, and already his fight was over. He had merely launched a testing blow against his opponent, and the opponent had disappeared. Either Nicholas had somehow grown much more powerful, or there was something else at work. All sources pointed to the latter. However, Nicholas had no time to ponder this, as he was suddenly and inexplicably transported once again. In Nicholas' opinion, this whole transporting thing was getting a bit dull. Honestly, it wasn't as if the warriors hadn't been transported before. Nicholas would have much preferred something exotic, like a flight of dragons to escort the fighters to the location, or even a horse and buggy. Then Nicholas snapped back to reality and realized he had a battle to fight.

As had become habit, Nicholas inspected his opponent. It appeared she was a ranger of some sort, as she had all sorts of bows and boomerangs and contraptions closely resembling bows. In fact, Nicholas even revised that statement a bit. She looked like a powerful ranger. Nicholas' sentiments towards that conclusion increased even further when he saw a Forest Spirit skirt away to a hiding place, although he showed no outward sign of recognizing the Forest Spirit. This girl must be powerful indeed to persuade a Forest Spirit to join her. Which was strange, considering she looked as if she could not be even 20 years old.

Nicholas then turned his inspection to himself, and found that eveything was present and accounted for. Although Nicholas had not fought a strenuous battle in the first round, he still felt perfectly refreshed and rejuvenated. He quickly added ingredients into the Conveyor Belt, put one hand over his rapier, and the other over the Lasher, ready to draw them. However, other than that Nicholas took no action, preferring to allow his opponent to make the first move, either conversationally or combatantly.

Tyzrk left her arms hanging down her shoulders, with a timid look at the guy's conveyor belt. "What is that..? I have to be cautious, this guy's armed to the pockets." She thought as she saw that the man also had his hands on his sheathed weapons, looking as if he was ready to draw anytime. Tyzrk once again looked at the conveyor belt, thinking, "Wow, is he supposed to run with that?" She of course, can never underestimate. He did seemed prepared, and it looked like that conveyor belt could do some real damage if he whipped Tyzrk with it.

"So, umm... What's your name?" Tyzrk asked, in a polite way so that she looked quite harmless at the moment. (Except for the mass of weapons on her back and that she had a loaded bow on her hands) "I do say, I've been counting on long ranged battle styles too much lately, I've sort of loss my swordsmanship with this bow here." Tyzrk demonstrated by swinging her bladed bow around in the air, slicing it, though she messed up half-way. She didn't mean to do that at all, and felt embarrassed. Tch, nice first impression, damn it.

Behind a slowly moving meteor, the forest spirit simply hid behind it as it started to move, she moved as well. She looked at Tyzrk with a look of stupidity. What the hell..? Then, she too observed the conveyor belt. [i]Dang, that thing seems heavy, is he gonna lift that and chuck it at Tyzrk..?[i] Tyzrk wasn't the only one unaware of today's machinery.

(Question: How big is the conveyor belt? I imagine like a big table, but it's just four legs supporting a moving belt. o.O)

(No, it's just a belt that fits around my waist and makes potions. It's not that big at all, really.)

As Nicholas stood there, with his hands on his hips, the girl addressed him. "So, umm... What's your name? I do say, I've been counting on long ranged battle styles too much lately, I've sort of loss my swordsmanship with this bow here." Then the girl attempted some flourish with her bow, in order to display her prowess Nicholas assumed, but she lost her grip and fumbled part of the way through. Apparently she had been relying on ranged combat too freguently, as it seemed that her bow combat skills had deteriorated. However, Nicholas realized that it was equally likely that she had fumbled the bow on purpose in order to lull Nicholas into a false confidence, so he didn't place too much weight on the incident.

Now, Nicholas was faced with a decision. He, like the ranger, felt comfortable with both ranged and close combat, and he would need to decide which course of action would give him the best chance at winning. Given the fact that the girl had just said that she wanted a close battle, and the fact that Nicholas felt like his weapons, especially the Morphing Gem, would be used most effectively at close range. However, before he could begin the battle, he would have to speak with the girl briefly.

"My name is Nicholas Flamel, an alchemist of some repute. I see from your arsenal of bows that you are a ranger, but you were not so kind as to tell me your name. May I ask what it is?"

Nicholas contemplated charging forward to begin the battle in earnest, but he decided against it. After all, he had just asked a question, and he did so enjoy pre-fight conversation. It made the battle all the better.

"Of course, how absent-minded of me." The elf smiled. (You're absent minded all the time! >.>) "My name is Tyzrk, and yes, I am indeed a ranger." She felt excitement that normally comes preceding a battle she knows is coming. She has gotten used to like fighting, oh how different she was from about a year ago. Along with excitement, she felt a strange breeze flow to her, moving a dust cloud past her shins, blowing her clothes making them flap behind her. The breeze revealed that the ranger had something else; a pair of strange metallic armor-like things on her shins. Tyzrk too was amazed at what was on her legs. Woah what the hell..? These might be useful, if I ever need to break the guy's- I'm not goin' there.

Tyzrk simply stayed still, holding the bow in her left and an arrow in her right, ready to lock and load at any time. She concentrated on Nicholas, making sure he didn't do anything suspicious. I've heard about alchemists before.. Although I haven't fought one before, word says these guys have many dangerous potions and stuff like that in their pockets... Is that what his conveyor belt is for? So he can just use and make potions? I have to be careful. Tyzrk was happy to fight someone that wasn't a warrior/mage/ranger/TDK thing, but this may be a bit challenging..

(Sorry, this post is going to have to be short. I shouldn't even be on here now, technically.)

"Of course, how absent-minded of me. My name is Tyzrk, and yes, I am indeed a ranger."

Then Nicholas saw some strange metal contraption on the elf's legs. He took note of it, but did not pay too much attention to it, as he knew he would undoubtedly see it used during the battle. Until then, he would keep it in the back of his mind to wait until it was used.

Nicholas knew that it was now time to fight. He readied himself mentally, steeling himself against any actions he might have to take against this elf, as it seemed like she was a nice enough person. Perhaps if the circumstances had been different, they could have been friends, but today they would be mortal enemies. Today they would fight to the death, or until the judges made a decision. Nicholas was ready, and he knew the elf would be too.

"Well, Tyzrk, shall we begin?"

Nicholas did not attack yet. He would leave that duty to the girl, but until then, Nicholas would be ready.

The elf smirked. It was that sentence and that one alone that would have gotten them anywhere. Tyzrk lowered her body, and, in seconds, shot out into the air, cartwheeling flashily onto an oncoming meteorite. Her descending was altered awkwardly from the metallic armors around her legs, though not too significantly, it was noticeable. It was flying sort of slowly, allowing her to land and keep her balance on it. Surprisingly, it was just a rock. Like, just a rock. She expected it to be at least sort of hot.

"Ahh, it's simply a bliss to have my feet out of that sand, it was really hard to maneuver around in that desert, I had to go bare feet there." Tyzrk flung her bladed bow high into the air, and caught it precisely in the middle, feeling like a bit of a show off, though it was a close catch, a second to late and she would have bumped it into her face instead. "At least I can still do that... All right, let's begin!" Tyzrk said, waving her hand with the arrow indicating the alchemist was allowed the first move. She then slowly set her hand towards the bow, knocking the arrow, though not necessarily loading it yet.

The girl did not yet act in a hostile way towards Nicholas, but he could see that she was now ready for battle. She launched herself into a tight cartwheeling, spinning through the air and landing gracefully on the meteorite. However, Nicholas noticed one thing while watching her arc through the air. The metal armor on her legs slightly altered her center of gravity, making the jump somewhat awkward as she spun. Nicholas wondered if the armor would also affect her running.

Nicholas fully expected the girl to fire an arrow at him, but instead she once again tried one of her silly tricks, throwing the bow in the air. Nicholas did not even watch the bows as it rose and fell. His eyes remained fixed firmly on Tyzrk. He contemplated simply throwing a potion at the silly girl while she watched her bow soar through the air, but he decided not to. Battles were not won on tricks, but rather in the fight itself. The girl knocked an arrow to her bow, but did not fire, and motioned to Nicholas. The time had come.

A million thoughts rushed through Nicholas' head, then all converged on a single point... run. With that, Nicholas abandoned any notions he had of a long, drawn out ranged encounter, and brought the moment to a crisis. He sprinted headlong at the archer, his rapier drawn. The Lasher remained at his side, but Nicholas was ready to draw and use it at a moments notice. The Morphing Gem moved from side to side in front of Nicholas, ready to reform at a moments command. The tournament's second round had begun.

Tyzrk stared at the man running with disappointment. "What, no potions..?" She wasn't stupid though, at least, she wasn't much for this match. She knew that this man would, at some point, use his class's special ability at some point. For now, the elf kept her eyes on the running man, specifically on where his weapons were.

She then had a crazy idea. He were to draw them soon, she knew that, but how he handles his weapons so she had no idea. She just had to learn for herself, hadn't she? The elf readied herself, grasping her bow a bit tighter. As he came into range, and seemed to tense up himself, she lifted the bow with a great heave.

Raising the bow above her head, Tyzrk slowly descended the bow with her other hand holding the arrow next to it. After holding it still at a favorable height and angle, she pulled the string, twisting her wrist to turn the arrow and string around her finger.

She always wanted to test this out. As she pulled the arrow at its usual distance, to the point where the bow would bend with the string. Now that she twisted the string and arrow, this applied more pressure to the string. She smirked, and let go of the arrow, sending the piece of wood with a metal end flying.

The arrow was aimed for Nicholas's abdomen, a good area to shoot for to see if he would try to use his weapons to deflect it. Because of the twist she gave it, it traveled at a much greater speed, though to him, as this is the first time for him seeing her arrows, he might see this as her normal speed.

Also, because of her twist, the arrow sort of moved in its path. It would curve to the left, downward, and end with a deep turn back up, making a circle, however, still ending at near the aimed point. This spin was just to knock him off, to test this person's hand-eye coordination, weapon dexterity, etc etc.

Seeing as this will probably be a close-up battle, Tyzrk didn't bother grabbing an arrow. Just to throw him off some more, she turned around, chuckled, and jumped to the next meteorite. Once again, she felt a difference in her jump and landing, it was altered by the weight of her legware. This was starting to annoy our heroine, but it didn't get on her mind that much, or rather, as much as that person. She worried of how much of a threat he could be. As soon as she landed, she turned around to see how he was doing.

Nicholas continued running at the ranger. As expected, he saw her ready a shot. However, there was something a bit different about how the ranger shot the arrow. Rather than a typical firing motion with the bow held steady, the ranger brought her bow downwards as she fired. In addition, Nicholas saw that she had but an odd twist in the string as she fired.

The arrow flew out of the bow, moving a bit faster than the arrows from other rangers bows. Since Tyzrk did not seem to be exceptionally burly, and he did not see anything about her bow, Nicholas concluded that the twist in the string must be the leading factor behind this extra speed. If Nicholas' lessons in aerodynamics still held up in this arena, then the arrow should also curve because of the unbalanced torque the twist had applied. Sure enough, the arrow traveled in a curved path, and ended traveling towards Nicholas' stomach.

Nicholas did not even break stride. Instead, the morphing gem was already in position to block the arrow, and it merely expanded somewhat as the arrow hit it to guard against ricochets. The arrow fell to the ground, useless, and Nicholas continued unhindered. By this time, the ranger had already jumped to the next meteorite, although Nicholas could see that the metal leggings were still having an effect on her. Rather than chase after this girl, Nicholas jumped onto the meteorite that she had left and quickly drew the Lasher. He quickly drew his arm backwards and then snapped it forwards as if a spring had just uncoiled in his shoulder. The Lasher shot forward, its spiked end headed straight for the ranger's stomach. Nicholas watched to see how the girl would react.

Tyzrk looked in amazement at the man's strange defense system. He didn't stop at all, and this floating mechanism runs up to her arrow, changes form, and blocks it out, allowing it's master to continue the run. Amazed by this weapon, and because she was looking behind her while landing, she got distracted and fell down on her butt. She then turned around so that she was facing Nicholas, yet she didn't get up just yet.

The man jumped up, with more effort then Tyzrk needed apparently, and quickly took out a weapon. It was a whip, but at least he had to hold this one for it to move. Nicholas threw his arms out when drawing the weapon, causing it to lash out towards Tyzrk. She had about an instant's moment to block it, as whips tend to go very fast. She had two choices fly in her mind in this instant, first one was to hold her bow out to try and parry the whip, not so smart. The second one was to try to jump back as she was on the floor, and this would be a bit more evasive, but less defensive.

Then, she thought of something. My weird leg-armor, of course! She, because she was on the floor, bent her knees so that the shinguards were in some defensive state. Also, for a just-in-case moment, she had her bow held to the side. The whip bashed the shinguards, and bounced off. Tyzrk took a second or two to examine the damage the armor took. It didn't seem badly damaged in anyway, but it was scratched. She also felt some of that hit the whip gave through the armor. It seemed this person had more power then he seemed to have. Luckily, none of them spikes on the whip really did anything bad.

Now for the reaction, Tyzrk put her right hand on the floor, and used it to push herself up. She also added a jump to it, making her go into the air. She spun while airborne, reaching back to grab an arrow. Her plan was to grab the arrow and shoot while she had the chance. However, she reached a bit higher then intended, making her instead reach for her Bowmerang. Surprised, she decided that she'd might as well go for it.

Continuing her spin, she held the Bowmerang a bit tighter, and with one last spin, she held her arm out, unsheathing the bow and throwing it forcefully towards Nicholas. She didn't know where exactly, but it was aimed for him, that was good enough for her. The wind buzzed around her annoyingly for the past few seconds she spun in the air, making her hair go everywhere. When she landed, some of her hair went into her eyes. She tried shacking it off while trying to keep track of Nicholas'es status as well.

(Argh, 'Nicholas' is starting to bother me. Not in the fight, to type up. I'm sooooo used to typing Nickolas as my friend's name is spelled that way. >< lol)

Nicholas watched as The Lasher snapped through the air towards the girl. It seemed as if it was going to hit home and draw first blood, but the girl was able to position her strange leg guards so that The Lasher hit them. Apparently she had use for them after all, although even now Nicholas was beginning to form a plan that might be able to use this unorthodox blocking technique against the girl. If he could use her strengths against her, then he woud be able to win this fight. The problem was actually doing it. Nicholas quickly returned The Lasher to it's normal position by his side, only minorly disappointed that the attack had not worked. For the time being, he was merely probing, testing the girl's strengths and weaknesses so he could more easily exploit them. At the same time, Nicholas sought to conceal as much of his ability as possible. The less his opponent knew, the less she could react to.

The girl vaulted into the air, spinning, and reached her hand backwards as if to grab an arrow. However, instead of an arrow, she grabbed one of her odd contraptions that resembled a Boomerang. As she came out of her spin, she released the Boomer-esque contraption at Nicholas. Actually, she aimed to Nicholas' left side, but Nicholas knew that the boomerang would turn so that it was headed for him.

However, before Nicholas acted he saw that the girl was not in the best of positions to defend, which gave him the perfect opportunity to truly begin the fight in earnest. He once again saw two options, ranged or melee. Since the girl had just shown that she had all sorts of methods to attack from range, Nicholas figured he might as well go for melee. In addition, a melee attack would simultaneously defend against the boomerang-bow approaching him. Not wasting another moment, Nicholas drew his rapier, sprinted forward, and vaulted over the gap between the two meteors. As he moved forward to jump, he felt the wind behind him swirl as the boomerang passed through the spot Nicholas had previously occupied. If Nicholas had hesitated even a split second more, he would have had quite an ache in his side.

Nicholas landed on the meteor at about the same time as the girl landed from her jump. However, the girl was not completely recovered from her jump yet, as she still had hair in her eyes, obscuring her vision. Nicholas took advantage of this fact and immediately attacked, jabbing his rapier straight for the girl's stomach. He wondered how the girl would react to this newest attack.

Tyzrk was falling down, noticing that Nicholas jumped onto the meteorite she was going to land on. Her hair went up as she descended, which was quicker then she was used to. In fact, this change in descending speed was significant now; the shinguards made a big difference. She landed faster then expected, even more then Nicholas probably anticipated. Thanks to this, she had more time to shake her hair out of her face, and opened them to see the alchemist ready to stab at her.

Since the altered descending time gave her more time, she had an easier time to react to that attack. She held her bladed bow out, quickly enough that it parried the sword. Her arm shook at the impact, and she didn't mean to do that at all, but seeing that she was safe, she didn't complain. Tyzrk quickly jumped back, landing on a small meteorite this time. The piece was just enough to support Tyzrk, which was nice.

Tyzrk panted, recovering from what happened while looking at the man, who probably forgot that the bowmerang was half boomerang, and it was on its way back. It flew towards Tyzrk, but what was in between those two was more important: Nicholas. It flew towards his head, or something around that area.

(This one is going to have to be short too. I hate work.)

Just as Nicholas was about to launch his attack, he noticed something. The girl was not nearly as far out of place as he had thought. He did not have any real reason as to why this would be the case, except possibly that Nicholas had simply miscalculated. Then he remembered that the girl was wearing those odd shinguards, and he wanted to hit himself for failing to take those into account. However, he supposed taking his anger out on her wasn't such a bad idea.

The girl easily blocked his attack, then jumped backwards towards a smaller meterorite. Nicholas then remembered that the boomerang-like contraption Tyzrk had thrown at him would probably be coming back right about now. He quickly hit the ground, and was relieved when he felt the woosh of the air as the boomerang passed through. Nicholas quickly got up, and instead of attacking he simply stood there, and addressed Tyzrk:

"Well, are you going to fight me, or are you going to keep hopping from meteorite to meteorite like an overactive frog?"

(Just as a note, they wouldn't really make much of a difference in decending speed, but it's no biggie.)
